Staying Active
Staying healthy in later life
Growing older is inevitable but poor health in old age is not. Adopting a healthy lifestyle is an important step to take if you want to increase your chances of keeping healthy and maintaining your independence in later life.
Most people know this includes trying to:
- keep physically active
- have a 'healthy' diet
- keep your weight within the normal range
- give up smoking
- drink sensibly.
It’s also important to try and make time to do things that make you 'feel good' and not to put yourself under unnecessary pressure. Good health is not simply related to your physical health, it includes your mental health too.
