Go For IT Project
IT Taster Sessions
Are you a Silver Surfer yet?
Age Concern Neath Port Talbot is running a project called ‘Go for IT’ which allows easy access to IT activities, including IT taster sessions for the over 50’s.
The project is centred around the real benefits technology can bring to older people, in their everyday lives.
Our trained volunteers offer free, one to one sessions by appointment, on:
- buying a computer (what computer to choose for your individual needs)
- basic use of a computer
- installing new software
- word processing / desk top publishing (how to produce letters, posters etc)
- e-mail (keeping in touch with family and friends)
- the internet and staying safe (family trees, shopping, personal interests)
- digital photography (how to use your camera, how to download pictures)
- and any other topics of interest!
Don’t be afraid to become involved, we offer you:
- a safe, welcoming and well equipped environment
- learning (what you want), at your own speed
- a friendly volunteer who will understand your needs
- progression to further learning opportunities
- improved employability for those seeing work.
“One client who benefited from our help recently was Mrs Jones, whose family had emigrated to New Zealand earlier this year. We were able to set up a video link and help her to use it, enabling her to see her grandchild on Christmas Day. She now keeps in regular contact with her family using her new skills”.
We use several locations around Neath Port Talbot, these include: |
|
| The Melin Technology Centre Payne Street, Melincryddan, Neath, SA18 1UD |
