Volunteering

Become a volunteer and make a difference

Do you have time to spare?

If you feel that you can give some time - as little as or as much as you like to help others, then we will be pleased to hear from you.

Volunteer effort is absolutely essential to our organisation. Currently, around 40 volunteers who work directly with older people, provide administrative support in the office, or help with community fundraising.

Volunteers are people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. People become volunteers for many different reasons, perhaps they want to give something back to the local community, gain valuable work experience, or maybe just want to be socially and physically active.

We offer you the chance to meet new people, and make a real difference to an older person's life.

Volunteering can increase confidence and self esteem, develop new skills, and help form new friendships.

"I feel I'm doing something worthwhile, and it's really enjoyable" (Volunteer)

"Volunteering has helped me gain experience and change my career" (Volunteer)

Why not pick up the telephone today, to find out about our wide range of volunteering roles including Administrative, IT Peer Tutoring, Independent Advocate, Befriender, Community Fundraiser and Board Member.

Full training is provided and out of pocket expenses reimbursed.

With your involvement we can improve the quality of life and help maintain the independence of even more local older people.

Our thanks to the WCVA for meeting the salary costs of our part time Volunteering Officer.
